The Kawasaki 135ZV wheel loader was developed to load 60 to 100-ton haulers in the quarry, mining, and steel industries. This machine is normally equipped with a 12.8-cubic yard (9.8-m3) rock bucket and a dual Z-linkage to provide breakout, or digging power. The transmission is designed and built by Kawasaki specifically for this machine. The transmission has three forward and reverse gears with lock-up in third gear to provide a fourth travelling speed. The 135ZV uses a Cummins QST30 diesel engine, which burns 12 to 18 gallons (45 to 68 L) per hour in most applications. The heavy box section frame provides a base to allow the 135ZV to be rebuilt for second and third lives.
