ANFO Loader

From RitchieWiki

Related Categories: Mining Equipment

An ANFO loader is a machine that loads a blasting agent known as ANFO into underground mine holes. The ANFO, an acronym for ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, is loaded by the ANFO loader and inserted into holes bored by drills. The dynamite is ignited by a highly explosive blasting cap or a primer and produces an explosion great enough to break the rock.

ANFO loaders are commonly used in blasting operations in underground mines because of their precise loading of dynamite that enables the rock to break in the desired way.

ANFO loaders are available in many sizes and are suitable for many blasting operations. ANFO loaders can be produced in small, portable sizes as well as larger mobile vehicles that are used in conjunction with hoppers for transporting and loading dynamite materials pneumatically.[1]
