Bay City Shovel

Bay City Dredge Works was founded in 1913 in Bay City, Michigan. It was renamed Bay City Shovels, Inc. in 1929.
Unit Crane & Shovel Corporation was acquired by Bay City Shovel in 1960, retaining the Bay City name. Unit Crane sold Bay City to The Manitowoc Company, Inc. in 1966, and it became the Bay City-Manitowoc Corporation. The Bay City product line was discontinued in 1969.
There is no known connection between Bay City Shovel and Bay City Foundry & Machine Company.[1]
Bay City model nomenclature was based on machine weight with a shovel front. For instance, a model 30 shovel weighs approximately 30,000 pounds (30,600 kg).[2]
