The Caterpillar 160G motor grader was introduced in 1986. It was manufactured in the USA only.

The 160G has a 3306 direct injection, six-cylinder engine producing 180 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It is an articulated vehicle with powershift transmission.
The 160G was given a 4JD serial number prefix.

In 1987 Caterpillar added new load sensing hydraulics and conducted an electrical system update, beginning with 4JD00141.
Production of 160G ended in 1993.
Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 100 Caterpillar 160G motor graders have been produced.
