The Caterpillar 219D hydraulic excavator was introduced in 1989 as the replacement for the Caterpillar 219. It was manufactured in Belgium only.

[edit] Features

The 219D has a Cat 3304 engine producing 140 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with increased bucket and stick forces, larger-diameter stick to bucket pin, a new main valve body, fuel gauge, Bostrom 411 seat, auto engine speed control, 50 amp alternator, high capacity cab heater, ether starting aid, forced main rails, and a redesigned upper frame carbody, boom, and stick. It also has a longer one-piece boom resulting in greater reach and dump height. With the 219D Caterpillar increased productivity from its predecessor.

The 219D was given a 5XG serial number prefix.

Production of 219D ended in 1992.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 1,000 Caterpillar 219D hydraulic excavators have been produced.
