The Caterpillar 232 skid steer loader was introduced in 2002. It was manufactured in the USA only.

The 232 has a 3024C naturally aspirated, four-cylinder engine producing 48 net horsepower (HP). It comes standard with a radial lift path and a hydraulic pump that delivers fluid at a rate of 14.7 gallons (55.6 L) per minute (GPM) at a system pressure of 3,100 pounds per square inch (PSI) (21,734 kPa).

The 232 was given a CAB serial number prefix.

Production of 232 ended in 2004; it was replaced by the Caterpillar 232B.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 400 Caterpillar 232 skid steer loaders have been produced.
