The Caterpillar 246B skid steer loader was introduced in 2004. It was manufactured in the USA only.

The 246B has a 3044 turbocharged, four-cylinder engine producing 78 net horsepower (HP). It comes standard with a radial lift path and hydraulic pump that delivers fluid at a rate of 22 gallons (83.4 L) per minute (GPM) at a system pressure of 3,100 pounds per square inch (PSI) (21,359 kPa).

The 246B was given a PAT serial number prefix.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 2,300 Caterpillar 246B skid steer loaders have been produced.
