The Caterpillar 277B multi terrain loader was introduced in 2004 as the replacement for the Caterpillar 277. It was manufactured in the USA only.

The 277B has a 3044 turbocharged, four-cylinder engine producing 78 net horsepower (HP). It comes standard with a radial lift path, rubber track, suspended undercarriage, and a hydraulic pump that delivers fluid at a rate of 22 gallons (83.38 L) per minute (GPM) at a system pressure of 3,300 pounds per square inch (22,737 kPa).

The 277B was given a MDH serial number prefix.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 2,100 Caterpillar 277B multi terrain loaders have been produced.
