The Caterpillar 301.5 mini excavator was introduced in 1998 in England. Production began in Japan in 2002.

The 301.5 has a Cat 3003 three-cylinder engine producing 17 horsepower. It has an operating weight of 3,064 pounds (1,390 kg). It comes standard with a pre-combustion chamber and rubber tracks.

The 301.5 was manufactured in England, with a 3YW serial number prefix; and in Japan, with a RAA prefix.

Production ended in England in 2005.
