The Caterpillar 303.5 mini excavator was introduced in 1999 in Japan. Production began in England in 2001.

The 303.5 has a Cat 3013 three-cylinder engine producing 28 horsepower (HP). It has an operating weight of 7,055 pounds (3,200 kg). It comes standard with a pre-combustion chamber and rubber tracks.

The 303.5 was manufactured in Japan, with a AFW serial number prefix; and in England, with a DCH prefix.

Production of 303.5 ended in 2002.
