Caterpillar 315C Hydraulic Excavator
From RitchieWiki
[edit] Features
The 315C has two different engine configurations: Japanese units have a Cat 3046 turbocharged, diesel engine producing 110 flywheel horsepower (FWHP), while French units have a Cat 3064E diesel engine producing 111 FWHP. It comes standard with pilot operated hydraulic controls.
The 315C was manufactured in Japan, with a CFB or CFT serial number prefix, and in France, with an ANF prefix.
Japanese units come standard with grease-lubricated tracks, a swing out hydraulic oil cooler, increased pump flow, a modified cab design, and modified electronics. It is also available with an optional straight travel pedal. The CFB unit has a standard undercarriage; CFT has a long undercarriage.
The French unit comes standard with a variable flow hydraulic system with a power and work mode selector, horsepower summation control, large lifting capacity, a high level of operator comfort, large cross-section design for the boom and stick, modified X-shaped carbody, increased bucket force, and increased pressure in the travel circuit. It has a long undercarriage.
[edit] Modifications
Production of CFB and CFT ended in 2002; Caterpillar replaced them with three new units, with an AKE, BTL, or CJC prefix.
The AKE and CJC units retained the same features as their predecessors. The AKE has a standard undercarriage; CJC has a long undercarriage.
The BTL unit has an air-to-air after-cooled engine producing 112 FWHP. It has an operating weight of 34,760 pounds (15,800 kg).
Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 3,700 Caterpillar 315C hydraulic excavators have been produced.
