The Caterpillar 325C hydraulic excavator/material handler was introduced in 2001 in Japan and Belgium. Production began in the USA and China a year later.

The 325C has a Cat 3126B engine producing 190 flywheel horsepower (FWHP).

The 325C was manufactured in Japan, with a BKH, BKT, BKW, or BMM serial number prefix; in Belgium, with a CBR, CSJ, JLC, or JLD prefix; in the USA, with a BFE or S2C prefix; and in China, with an AMH or BTD prefix.

All of the Japanese and Chinese units, as well as the CSJ unit, have a new operator station and upper house.

The JLC and JLD units have a heavy-duty upper frame. The JLC has a long undercarriage, while the JLD has a high and wide undercarriage.

The S2C unit has a square carbody and a new operator station. It has an operating weight of 72,600 pounds (33,00 kg). It is a material handler unit.

The JLD has an operating weight of 66,000 lbs (30,000 kg).

The CRB, JLC, and BFE have an operating weight of 63,800 lbs (29,000 kg).

The BTD and BMM units have an operating weight of 62,480 lbs (28,400 kg).

The CSJ unit has an operating weight of 61,380 lbs (27,900 kg).

The BKT unit has an operating weight of 60,940 lbs (27,700 kg).
