Caterpillar 446 Loader Backhoe
The 446 has a Cat 3114 turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine producing 95 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with 268-cubic inch (4.4-L) displacement, a four speeds forward, four reverse powershift transmission, load sensing hydraulic system, and an excavator-style backhoe.
The 446 was given a 6XF serial number prefix.
In 1991 Caterpillar made the previously standard ether starting aid optional, beginning with 6XF00471.
Production of 446 ended in 1993; it was replaced by the Caterpillar 446B.
Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 900 Caterpillar 446 loader backhoes have been produced.
