Caterpillar 525 Skidder
The 525 has a 3304 direct injection, turbocharged, after-cooled, four-cylinder engine producing 160 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with a four-speed transmission, differential locks, internal disc brakes and final drives, front axle oscillation, and a 138-inch (350.5-cm) wheelbase. It also features a modified cab.
The 525 was given a 1DN serial number prefix.
In 1997 Caterpillar made an emissions update to the engine, beginning with 1DN01040.
In 1998 the transmission was changed from four-speed to five-speed, beginning with 1DN01799.
In 1999 Cat added a C-500 series winch brake off position, beginning with 1DN01839. An air suspension seat was also added, beginning with 1DN01981.
Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 2,200 Caterpillar 525 skidders have been produced.
