The Caterpillar 939C crawler loader was introduced in 1996. It was manufactured in Japan only.

The 939C has a 3046 turbocharged engine producing 90 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It has a hydrostatic transmission. It comes standard with a 61-inch (155 cm) track gauge with a 1.5 cubic yard (1.2 m³) bucket.

The 939C was given a 6DS serial number prefix.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 1,500 Caterpillar 939C crawler loaders have been produced.
