Caterpillar D11N Crawler Tractor
The D11N has a 3508 direct injection turbocharged, eight-cylinder engine producing 770 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with a suspended undercarriage, hydraulically engaged steering clutches, modular components, folded core radiator, 114-inch (290-cm) track gauge and powershift transmission.
It was manufactured in the USA only, with a 74Z serial number prefix.
Production of the 74Z ended in 1993, and the same year, Caterpillar introduced a new D10N unit, with a 4HK prefix.
The new unit has a 3508 direct injection turbocharged after-cooled, eight-cylinder engine with an electric unit injector. It came standard with a demand control fan, computerized monitoring system, dual tilt, and increased universal (U) and straight-universal (SU) dozer blade capacity. It also had modifications made to the operator’s station.
A certified rebuild program was available for the D11N, beginning with 74Z75000 and 4HK75000.
Production of the D11N ended in 1996.
The Caterpillar D11N was replaced by the Caterpillar D11R.
Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 1,700 Caterpillar D11N crawler tractors have been produced.
