The Caterpillar D9T crawler tractor was introduced in 2004 as the replacement for the D9R.

The D9T has a C18 engine with Advanced Combustion Emissions Reduction Technology (ACERT) and Air-to-Air After Cooler (ATAAC) producing 410 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with 24-inch (61-cm) shoes, torque converter, differential steering, and a three speeds forward, three reverse powershift transmission. It is also equipped universal and straight-universal dozer blades.

The D9T was manufactured in the USA only, with a RJS serial number prefix.

Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 100 Caterpillar D9T crawler tractors have been produced.
