The Caterpillar M322C mobile excavator/material handler was introduced in 2002 in Germany. Production began in France in 2005.

The M322C has a Cat 3056E direct injection turbocharged, air-to-air after-cooled (ATAAC) engine producing 166 net horsepower (HP).

The M322C was manufactured in Germany, with a BDK or BDY serial number prefix; and in France, with a H2E or H2G prefix.
