Fracturing
From RitchieWiki
Fracturing, also referred to as fraccing or a 'frac job," is the term used by the oil industry to describe the process of hydraulically pumping special fluids sometimes laden with sand from a frac tank into a drilled well under a high rate of pressure enough to crack or fracture the rock bed. A plane of high-permeability sand is created that allows oil to flow more freely into the well. The objective of fraccing is to stimulate and prolong well production.[1]
