Ken Ritchie (Oct. 29, 1927 - Jul. 16, 2004) was one of the three founders of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the world's largest industrial auction company. He was the company's first president and one of its first auctioneers. Ken was born in Kelowna, B.C., Canada to parents Rae George and Ruby Beryl (nee Staples) Ritchie. He was the second of six children, including brothers Dave Ritchie and John Ritchie—the other two founders of Ritchie Bros.[1]

When Ken passed away in 2004, Construction Equipment Guide noted that he was "known for his warmth and high standard of integrity."[2]

Ken was survived by his wife of 49 years, Lyn, and their children Mike, Bruce, Jo-Anne and Doug. Ken's son Mike is a former employee and partner of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers.
