Dating back to the mid-19th century, Mustang Manufacturing Co. Inc. produces skid steer loaders, compact excavators, telescopic handlers, track loaders and all-wheel-steer loaders to more than 39 countries throughout the world. It has been a subsidiary company of Gehl since 1999.[1]

Mustang Co. began in 1865. Its first skid steer loader was built in 1965, making Mustang the second oldest skid-steer loader in the world. The first series of skid-steer loaders was the Series 1000.
Gehl acquired Mustang in 1999.[2]

Mustang Manufacturing Co. Ltd. was acquired by Gehl Co., a manufacturer of skid steer loaders, telescopic forklifts, asphalt pavers, and farm machinery. The products continue to be manufactured at the Mustang plant in Owatonna, Minnesota, and marketed under their original brand name.
