An overhead-valve engine (OHV), also called a valve-in-head engine, is a four-stroke-cycle internal combustion engine that has valves placed inside the cylinder block.[1] The camshaft in an OHV engine is also located inside the cylinder block and operates the valves by way of lifters and pushrods.[2] Housed inside the cylinder block in a lateral position, these pushrods drive the intake and exhaust valves.[3]
