Thank you for your comments Emile. Please feel free to add to our online equipment resource. We are counting on those in the industry to help provide us with a full and comprehensive source of information about equipment, manufacturers and more.

Who owns the content that is created on this Wiki? There is no mention of license that I can find. I have no problem contributing, as long as I know that it is published under an appropriate (creative commons?) license, that can be shared in the future.

John, all content posted on RitchieWiki should be of referential quality. Therefore any material that you add from other sources must be referenced. However, any personal knowledge that is unreferenced is all released into the public domain. We, at RitchieWiki, appreciate any contributions you could provide.
Thank you very much. - The RitchieWiki Team
- Hi TheRitieWiki Team
- The lack of an statement on copyright is comspicuse by its absence, I have searched the site on several occasions and find no mention of it. The statement above that it is released into the public domain is the first one i have seen on this important issue. Can you clearly point users and potential editors to the apropriate page were the satus is clearly stated as some editors will be reluctant to 'donate' their work in some cases without a clear statement. There is also the Issue of Re using content on 3rd party web sites that this address. Many people could re use your photo libary on 3rd party sites if it is permited by a clear license statement. But many others will just borrow them without giving credit to the sourec or creator. Many people wish to share there photos but would like atribution for there work. as a US site you (RitchieWiki) are probably missing out on contributions from European contributors such as my self. I have a collection of thousands of items of UK machinery, but am reluctant to contribute to a site with an unclear statemt about content copyright. Most wiki sites have a clear licensing statement attached to pages. You have a page RitchieWiki:Copyrights that is displayed as a red link when editing this page with a note about not adding copyrighted info that is part of the standard Wiki based web site template, so if the site is PD or creative comons licensed please create a page to avoid any future ambigity as the statement refers editors to that page for more info.

[edit] Using pictures
Hello guys,
please appologize my very simply english, but I have a question about the pictures in this wiki. There are many really good shots and I would like to use some pictures from this site for wikicommons, the image database of wikipedia. Can I do this, or what kind of license have the pictures here? An image can only be uploaded at Commons if it is alowed to share it (copy, distribute and transmit), so it used to have or get a license like by-sa or similar. Is that possible? Best regards D8.
[edit] Creative Commons license
Hello Dave...RitchieWiki is now licensed with Creative Commons! We welcome your contribution to this site. Thanks so much.
The RitchieWiki Team
- Thanks for clarifing the copyright issue by adopting the creative commons license as used on a lot of other wiki sites such as wikipedia. It makes the transfer and re use of infomation so much simpler for everybody to understand - "Share the information but Credit the source", .

Great! We are really looking forward to your information on UK construction equipment. Thanks Dave.

Great idea guys, will use as a valuable tool to educate new employees to this industry. Thanks for your continued support and forward thinking, as I'm sure will be just as successful as your internet site has become.
