I am the daughter of John D. Turner who joined Barber-Greene in 1925. I so enjoyed your bringing back memories of Barber-Greene, the start of the company, the depression, for I was born in 1931. My father was sent from Birmingham, Alabama to Aurora, Illinois, to study the company and to return to Birmingham to help his father who had the largest dealership in Alabama. The economy hit the skids and my grandfather's business collapsed. As a result, my father was left in "Siberia" as he called the area, and he signed on to work for Barber-Greene for he really had no other choice. He worked his entire life for Barber-Greene, becoming one of their vice-presidents. His field of expertise was advertising and promotion. He told me that his father chose Barber-Greene because they had the finest business ethics in the field and he wanted his son to work for this great company over all others. I was very proud of my father. The community embraced him and at his funeral, many of the business community leaders attended.

I have a book, OUR FIRST FIVE DECADES WRITTEN BY: Mr. H. H. Barber, Mr. W. B. Greene, and my father. You probably have this from excerpts from the American National Business Hall of Fame but Just in case you do not, I just wanted you to know it has interesting photos and text. UK branch still exists as BGP - Barber Greene Paving - in Preston, Lancashire. The former large factory in Bury St. Edmunds is now the local council offices - the opening plaque can be seen by searching on www.geograph.co.uk

Good day, I work in a construction company and Im in charge of a maquinary section, one of the machines is a finisher barber greene, serial number SB 111387 made in 1984; The machine haves power troubles and I think that is something wrong with the main pump, I don’t have a spare parts manual and I really appreciate if you can help me to find out what kind of main pump, manufacturer among other things I need to solve this problem and change the spare part. cucutaauxmaq_vyc@hotmail.com

A Once great company, sadly no more, Barber Greene truly were innovators whose ideas shaped the way Asphalt was produced and laid. Both myself and my father were lucky enough to work for BG and it was more than a factory you went to work in!!
