I have photo of my grandfather in an army setting with tracton engine 59. you can see the cablewinding on underneath.He was a steam engine fitter. He would have been 50 when war I started.what was he doing ?

Photo found of Self powered 2x2 wheel Steam Trailers in use four at a time behind large 4x2 Burrell or Fowler Traction Engine in Glasgow, 1920's: I am curious as to this type of Self-Powered Trailer design.
