The D10N has a 3412 direct injection turbocharged after-cooled, 12-cylinder engine producing 520 flywheel horsepower (FWHP). It comes standard with oil-cooled clutches and brakes, high sprocket, and powershift transmission.
It was manufactured in the USA only, with a 2YD serial number prefix.
[edit] Modifications
Production of the 2YD ended in 1993, and the same year, Caterpillar introduced a new D10N unit, with a 3SK prefix.
The new unit has increased universal (U) and straight-universal (SU) dozer blade capacity. Caterpillar also modified the operator station and added a computerized monitoring system.
A certified rebuild program was available for the D10N, beginning with 2YD75000 and 3SK75000.
Production of the D10N ended in 1996.
The Caterpillar D10N was replaced by the Caterpillar D10R.
Based on data from the sales database of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, it is estimated that more than 3,600 Caterpillar D10N crawler tractors have been produced.
