Outriggers

Outriggers are used on loader backhoes to provide stability and raise the unit for digging purposes. On a lowboy trailer, outriggers with a locking swing-out brace are used to provide additional width for a large load capacity. Outriggers are also commonly used on boom trucks and cranes to help stabilize them. The term leveling legs is also used to describe outriggers.
