A pallet jack is a tool used to move and lift pallets in warehouses or large storage facilities. A pallet jack has a flat platform similar to a dolly with forks on the front end. The operator walks behind the jack and controls its direction with a simple steering mechanism. The forks slide under the pallet and, using a lever, the operator activates a lifting mechanism on the device to raise the pallet off the floor. The pallet jack is then used to transport the lifted pallet to another location. When a pallet jack is motorized and accommodates the operator with a seating area, it is referred to as a pallet truck
